Kris Pollet Joins Acumen to Bolster Environmental Policy Expertise

Acumen Public Affairs proudly welcomes Kris Pollet as its latest addition to the senior advisory team, specializing in environmental policy and regulatory matters. Kris brings a wealth of experience and knowledge garnered from over three decades of dedicated service in the realms of EU institutions, environmental law, and global sustainability initiatives.

Kris embarked on his professional journey in the early 1990s, serving in an EU information office in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK. His career trajectory led him to the heart of EU decision-making at the European Commission’s Secretariat General, where he played a crucial role in institutional policy development. Subsequently, he spent nearly three years as an invaluable assistant to two prominent UK Members of the European Parliament.

His passion for environmental policy took centre stage when he joined a global law firm, where he swiftly became a leading authority on matters such as electronic waste legislation (WEEE & RoHS), the groundbreaking REACH framework, and the establishment of the EU Emissions Trading system.

Kris’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish his environmental law and policy consultancy firm, where he collaborated with influential organizations worldwide. Notable clients included a California-based IT multinational, leading Japanese electronics companies, esteemed Japanese and Korean trade associations, a pioneering Taiwanese research institute, and a globally renowned Belgian electronics and battery recycling powerhouse.

In the early 2010s, Kris emerged as a key figure in shaping policy discussions surrounding the UN Basel Convention on Transport of Hazardous Waste and the Montreal Protocol on ozone-depleting substances.

Commenting on his new role, Kris Pollet expressed, “I am thrilled to join Acumen Public Affairs and contribute to their legacy of impactful work. The intersection of environmental policy and public affairs is where my passion lies, and I am eager to offer my advice to drive positive change in these critical areas.”
