With a background in environmental law and experience in the US and the UK, Nicolás started his Brussels adventure in 2013 in consultancy, where he advised clients on classification and labelling of fragrance products, energy policy, as well as pioneering industry led initiatives to understand the impact of polymeric materials in marine litter.
In the European adhesive and sealants association (FEICA), he was instrumental in leading the standardisation of polyurethane foams by becoming the convenor of a CEN Technical Committee, as well as setting up a workstream on ecodesign within the association.
In addition, as part of the team in the Chemicals Industry association (Cefic), Nicolás managed the work related to the REACH restriction on intentionally added microplastics, as well as the association’s activities on the registration of polymers under REACH.
Prior to joining Acumen, he worked in Neste as a public affairs expert, helping the company create, drive, and executive a successful advocacy strategy on renewable and recycled polymers, covering areas from packaging, to automotive, and beyond.
