"Sustainability policies sit at the core of how the EU shapes its economy, industry and global role, and it will define the future we all live in. At Acumen, my role is to bridge public and private perspectives so they can turn ambitions into solutions. "
Matteo is an enthusiast of the evolving relationship between trade and sustainability in EU policymaking, with a particular interest in how environmental ambition, industrial strategy and global trade dynamics increasingly shape one another. He is especially drawn to the way the EU seeks to reconcile competitiveness with the implementation of its green agenda, and to the policy tools that sit at this intersection, from trade deals to supply chain regulation.
He has built experience across the EU policy ecosystem, working in both the public and private sectors. He served as an advisor in the European Parliament on trade policy and worked in consultancies, a think tank and in-house within industry, focusing on energy, environment and chemicals policy. He focused on translating complex regulatory developments into strategic insights for different stakeholders.
He holds two Master’s degrees: one in European and International Governance, with a focus on EU external relations and trade policy, and an Advanced Master in European Integration, specializing in energy policy and sustainability. He is fluent in Italian, English and Spanish, and is currently improving his French.
